    Washington, DC – Today the Postal Regulatory Commission (Commission) released its Annual Report to the President and Congress providing an account of the activities undertaken by the Commission during 2016.

    Washington, DC – Today, the Postal Regulatory Commission (Commission) begins its review of the system for regulating rates and classes for Market Dominant products that was first established in 2006. The law requires that the Commission begin its review of the current rate system ten years after the date of enactment of the Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act, to determine whether it’s achieving the objectives established by Congress.

    Washington, DC – In its 2015 Annual Compliance Determination(ACD), the Postal Regulatory Commission identified components of the Postal Service’s Flats mail flow that appear to represent pinch points that significantly impact Flats’ cost and service. As a result, the Commission asked that the Postal Service provide a complete response to the chapter 6 directive in the ACD.

    Washington, DC – Today the Postal Regulatory Commission introduced a new Strategic Plan that will guide the Commission in its planning, activities, and initiatives over the next five years. The Plan outlines the agency’s vision to promote a robust universal mail system through objective, accurate, and timely regulatory analyses and decisions.

    Washington, DC – Acting Chairman Robert G. Taub testified before the U.S. House Oversight and Government Reform Committee at a hearing on May 11, 2016, titled “Reforming the Postal Service: Finding a Viable Solution.” During his testimony, Taub outlined the Commission’s analysis of the various challenges that contribute to the Postal Service’s current financial condition. The Acting Chairman concluded his presentation by asking, “Where can we look for answers?
