PRC Commences First Broad Review of Postal Ratemaking System

Washington, DC – Today, the Postal Regulatory Commission (Commission) begins its review of the system for regulating rates and classes for Market Dominant products that was first established in 2006. The law requires that the Commission begin its review of the current rate system ten years after the date of enactment of the Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act, to determine whether it’s achieving the objectives established by Congress.

The President Reappoints Robert Taub and Mark Acton as Commissioners following Senate Confirmation: Taub Designated Chairman; Acton Elected Vice Chairman

Washington, DC –President Obama reappointed Robert G. Taub and Mark Acton as Commissioners of the Postal Regulatory Commission (Commission) for new terms that expire October 14, 2022. Both Commissioners were confirmed by the United States Senate on December 10, 2016. The President also designated Taub as Chairman of the Commission; he has led the Commission as Acting Chairman since December 4, 2014.

PRC To Host Technical Conference: USPS to address Flats Directive in 2015 ACD

Washington, DC – In its 2015 Annual Compliance Determination(ACD), the Postal Regulatory Commission identified components of the Postal Service’s Flats mail flow that appear to represent pinch points that significantly impact Flats’ cost and service. As a result, the Commission asked that the Postal Service provide a complete response to the chapter 6 directive in the ACD.

PRC Publishes Strategic Plan Outlining Five-Year Vision

Washington, DC – Today the Postal Regulatory Commission introduced a new Strategic Plan that will guide the Commission in its planning, activities, and initiatives over the next five years. The Plan outlines the agency’s vision to promote a robust universal mail system through objective, accurate, and timely regulatory analyses and decisions.

PRC Announces Plan for 10-year Review of System of Regulating Rates and Classes for Market Dominant Products

Washington, DC – At today’s quarterly public meeting of the Postal Regulatory Commission (Commission), the Commission outlined its plans for the upcoming review of the existing ratemaking system. The Commission is notifying the public now so that all interested parties may prepare to fully participate in the review that will start after December 20, 2016.

Commission Hosts Technical Conference on USPS Performance Measurement Data

Washington, DC – The Postal Regulatory Commission will host an off-the-record technical conference on August 26, 2016, at 10:00 am in the hearing room at Commission offices, 901 New York Ave. NW, Suite 200 Washington, DC 20268, to discuss data represented in the Postal Service’s first two quarterly reports on its service performance measurement systems proposals for Market Dominant products.

Acting Chairman Taub Outlines Postal Service Challenges in PRC Testimony to House Committee

Washington, DC – Acting Chairman Robert G. Taub testified before the U.S. House Oversight and Government Reform Committee at a hearing on May 11, 2016, titled “Reforming the Postal Service: Finding a Viable Solution.” During his testimony, Taub outlined the Commission’s analysis of the various challenges that contribute to the Postal Service’s current financial condition. The Acting Chairman concluded his presentation by asking, “Where can we look for answers?

PRC Examines USPS 2015 Performance Goals and 2016 Performance Plan: Report offers recommendations for meeting goals in the future

Washington, DC – Today the Postal Regulatory Commission (Commission) issued its analysis of the United States Postal Service (Postal Service) fiscal year (FY) 2015 Annual Performance Report and fiscal year 2016 Performance Plan. The Commission is statutorily required to review the Postal Service’s goals and make findings as to whether the Postal Service has met those goals and offer any recommendations regarding the protection or promotion of public policy objectives.
